OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this project is to challenge you to think about the design and functionality of your work.

- Develop skills in sculpting with clay Develop slab or coil pot methods
- Design for purpose: usable, phone holder that acts as a speaker
- Connect art making to everyday products
- This is a functional project so it needs to meet specific requirements.
- Since you need to create a piece that amplifies sound it is important to consider the measurements of the openings, especially for the phone. This is done by using the phone and leaving at least a ¼” on all sides since it will shrink as it dries, and after 2 firings.
- Consider an adequate opening for the sound to travel out!
- Additional holes or openings for charging cords are an extra level of challenge
- Create an interesting, original design
- silly, fun, goofy, sleek, formal, etc…

HOW SOUND WORKS:
Sound waves travel outward from their origin, and to amplify those waves a cone or conical shape works best to allow the sound to bounce and multiply.
